This image depicts ten women gathered around a table. From the back to the front on the left hand side of the photograph are: Tahara, Tomihiro, Taguchi, Hatsua, Iida, and Okubo. From the back to front on the right hand side of the photograph are: Takashima, Ueda, Tahara, and Kawata. On the left of the photo are the women, wearing dresses; on the right side of the photo are young girls, wearing dresses and bows. On the table is laid out covered dishes of food, and teacups placed upside down.

Fumiko Kawata was born in 1938 in Cumberland BC to parents Itoko and Yoshitoshi Kawata. Yoshitoshi's parents were Sowa & Kinshiro Kawata from Ehime prefecture. Kinshiro came to Canada as a farm labourer on the Empress of Russia Dec 19, 1922, his nearest relative at that time was Tomi Kawata of Yanazaki Mura, Nishiwa gori, Ehime Ken, Japan. Itoko and Yoshitoshi were born in Japan and remained Japanese Nationals.
