            <salute>Dear Sir:</salute>
         </opener>
         <div>
            <p>We are in receipt of your letter of <date when="1944-09-13">September 13, 1944</date>.</p>
            <p>Your remarks have been carefully read and we can appreciate that the disposal of your property is a matter which will give you personal concern. However, the sale of properties to the Director, The Veterans' Land Act, was carried out as part of a policy of liquidation outlined by the Canadian Government and the prices obtained were on the basis of appraised valuations.</p>
            <p>Your letter has been placed upon our files so that your comments in regard to this sale will remain on record, but we can only advise you that the sale has been completed and that we are not in a position to consider any alternative in regard to this matter.</p>
            <p>Your request for the proceeds of the sale of your property cannot be granted at the present time as you are still living within the housing settlement area. However, we note that it is your intention to move from your present residence and when this move has actually taken place you may again apply through the B. C. Security Commission in your locality for the balance of funds held to your credit at this office. In the meantime we shall continue to forward your regular monthly remittances.</p>
         </div>
         <closer style="text-align: right;">
            <salute>Yours truly,</salute>
