         <div>
            <p>With reference to the secions of your letter of <date when="1947-07-22">July
                     22nd</date> concerning the sale of the vessel "Pacific Crown", we wish to
                  inform you that the Custodian had nothing whatever to do with the sale of this
                  vessel and that none of the funds received from this sale were handled by the
                  Custodian.</p>
            <p>According to information received from the <orgName>Japanese Fishing Vessels Disposal Committee</orgName>, the "Pacific Crown" was sold by <persName corresp="prs:fuku2">Mr. Hideo Fukuyama</persName> acting under authorty of the Power of Attorney granted by you on <date when="1942-03-26">March 26, 1942</date>. This document, which was witnessed by <persName corresp="prs:kimu1">K Kimura</persName>, <placeName><address>217 Dunlevy Avenue, Vancouver B.C.</address></placeName>, and which carries a signature resembling yours, was accepted by the Japanese Fishing Vessels Disposal Committee as evidence that you had conferred on Mr. Hideo Fukuyama full powers to act on your behalf in connection with the sale, transfer, release or discharge of the vessel "Pacific Crown".</p>
            <p>The vessel "Pacific Crown" was sold to <orgName>British Columbia Packers
                     Ltd.</orgName> on <date when="1942-05-08">May 8, 1942</date>, for the total sum
                  of <num type="salePrice">$3,050.00</num>. From this sum, <num>$545.27</num> was
                  used to satisfy the Mortgage in favour of <orgName>Canadian Atlas Diesel Engines
                     Ltd</orgName>. The sum of <num>$100.00</num> was paid to <persName corresp="prs:odex1">Y
                     Ode</persName>, apparently in settlement of a
                  debt due Mr. Ode from you. The Japanese Fishing Vessels Disposal Committee's
                  supervision charge was <num>$35.50</num>. The balance of the proceeds,
                     <num>$2,369.23</num>, were paid to your Attorney, Mr. Hideo Fukuyama, on <date when="1942-05-22">May 22, 1942</date>. Mr. Fukyama, acting, he has stated, on
                  your instructions, turned this $2,369.23 over to your father, <persName corresp="prs:tama2">Tokumatsu
                     Tamai</persName>.</p>
            <p>In regard to the requisitioning of this vessel by the <orgName>Royal Canadian Air
                     Force</orgName>, this office was informed that the "Pacific Crown" was found,
                  upon examination, to be unsuitable for use by the Royal Canadian Air Force and was
                  therefore released from requisitioning order. The vessel does not appear to have
                  been chartered or at any time used by the Royal Canadian Air Force.</p>
            <p>Your father will no doubt be able to give you full information in regard to the funds received by him from your Attorney, Mr. Hideo Fukuyama.</p>
